Lake Tahoe is world-renowned for its crystalline waters and pristine shoreline, and there are many property types and features to look for in a lakefront home. Here are some things to consider when looking at lakefront listings:

  • Is there a pier? Does it have a boat lift? Boat house?
  • Are there separate guest quarters?
  • One, or two, buoys–and are they permitted?
  • What is the length and type of waterfront–sandy, rocky, walled?
  • Sun exposure?
  • How close is the road?

The North Shore offers warmer, south-facing aspects, with a bit more hustle and bustle, while the West Shore tends to boast cool summer temps, tall pines and a quieter atmosphere.
